Chelsea 'submit enquiry' for striker transfer as Barcelona make Ousmane Dembele decision

Chelsea's push for the Premier League title appears to be over and Thomas Tuchel's attention will now be cast towards the three cup competitions. The Blues have secured safe passage in the Champions League and FA Cup, while they're also set for a Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.

So far in January, it's been a relatively quiet period for Tuchel in the market but that could change, according to the latest rumours. The signing of a new forward is something Chelsea continue to be linked with and Canadian outlet TSN state the Blues have made an enquiry for Lille striker Jonathan David. The 22-year-old has 16 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions this season and has reportedly caught the attention of both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

A significant battle in the transfer market could now develop, with Arsenal having been attributed with long-term interest as well. Elsewhere, Barcelona have made it clear that Ousmane Dembele will be sold this month after he refused a new contract and Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness states Chelsea remain an option.

The France international is out of contract at the end of the season, where he'll be available for free, but Barcelona have made it clear they expect his departure before the end of the window. Finally, FIFA's new rules regarding loanees over the age of 21 has left Chelsea plotting a fire sale, with Express Sport naming four players who could be sold.

Michy Batshuayi, Baba Rahman, Matt Miazga and Tiemoue Bakayoko are the four players touted for an exit, with significant departures on the cards.
