Chelsea want Nottingham Forest’s Djed Spence as a potential replacement for the England international Reece James, according to TEAMtalk.
The 21-year-old star will return to Middlesbrough in the summer but they are willing to sell the player for around £17 million.
Reece on the other hand has been introduced in the same breath as Real Madrid, with Defensa Central stating the interest.
Djed has been a revelation at City Ground. He has been a mainstay in the Tricky Trees team under Steve Cooper and the only match he missed came against Boro.
Nottingham Forest will pounce to sign him outright; although that’s provisional on the basis that the club reach the Premier League.
The Blues want him in the eventuality that Reece
does get swayed by interest from the UEFA
Champions League finalists.
He has warmed himself to Forest fans with a string of fine displays. As a result, it’d sting if they are not promoted and are forced to watch a European giant snap the talent up.
It is fine for them to be in the mix to keep Spence but ultimately, landing him will be tricky even if the club are promoted.
Djed has clearly enjoyed his football at his current side but if the Blues comes calling there might be little Forest can do.
