Chelsea submit bid for Torino star valued at £42.6m

The West London giants are in the market for defensive reinforcements during the current summer transfer window after losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen for free.

Uncertainty also surrounds the futures of Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, both of whom have been strongly rumoured with moves to La Liga giants, Barcelona.

Sevilla’s centre-back Jules Kounde is believed to be at the top of the Blues centre-back wishlist, however, Thomas Tuchel is believed to want more than one defensive addition and Brazilian defender is another of the players on his radar.

Transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio reports that the Blues have lodged an ‘important proposal’ for the 25-year-old defender in an attempt to beat their rivals to his services.

London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have been repeatedly credited with an interest in Bremer, while Serie A giants, Inter Milan are also believed to be in the running.

However, Inter are reluctant to meet Torino’s £42.6m price tag, and are also unwilling to include Cesare Casadei as part of the deal.

The report suggests that the Blues have now stolen a march in the race for his services, though, while Bremer himself has confirmed that he plans to depart from Torino. The Brazilian told ESPN Brasil:

“I told the coach and the management [last summer] ‘I want to change now’. So they told me: ‘Stay this year, help us. Next year you can take the next step’.

“The fans already know that I have this desire to play in the Champions League, to go there to earn a call-up to the Brazilian national team.

“I need to play at a much better level, so I think it’s a matter of time. I’m analysing some proposals, but I think that next season I will no longer play for Torino.”
