‘Swap With Werner’ ‘I Don’t Want A 1 Season Wonder’ Fans Discuss Potential Bid As Chelsea Target Makes Frank Admission About His Future

RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku has admitted that he is flattered by the interest being shown in him.

Chelsea, Manchester United and a number of other teams are believed to be keen on signing the Frenchman this summer and, while the player is happy to have so many clubs looking to secure his services, he also acknowledges that Leipzig are fighting hard to keep hold of him:

It’s no secret. There are clubs interested in me. Yes, it’s flattering, but it’s also flattering to have a club like Leipzig do everything to keep me as well. I’ll have to reflect well and make a decision. The World Cup is on the way and that’s another factor to take into account.”

Nkunku had an excellent season, scoring 35 goals and contributing 20 assists in 51 appearances, but fans on Twitter are very much split on whether the Blues should try and sign him:

I still don’t know what to think of Nkunku. Had a great season no doubt but I think Bundesliga tax has me scared — Tim Dongz (@CFCDongz) June 5, 2022

We really, REALLY want to move fast on this & get the guy in; I do hope they’re not sitting idly, exasperatingly on their hands while being distracted by the business of selling Lukaku.. — hulton (@hultonenglish) June 5, 2022

He better stay away from Chelsea. And enjoy his Bundesliga tax. — 🔸Richy🔸 (@CFCRichy_) June 5, 2022

You know what to do @ChelseaFC — @CFCMoi (@CfcMoi19) June 5, 2022

Considering Nkunku’s outstanding performances, you would think that the majority of supporters would back Chelsea’s attempts to sign the 24-year- old, but the club have been burned before when recruiting players from Germany.

Timo Werner has failed to live up to expectations and, while neither Kai Havertz nor Christian Pulisic have performed poorly, it’s fair to say they haven’t quite reached the heights expected of them either. Nkunku could well be different though.

Leipzig are expected to fight hard to keep the France international but a bid in excess of €75m (£64m) is expected to be enough to snap him up.
