Denis Zakaria explains Chelsea unhappiness as Reece James breaks silence on injury

James breaks silence

Reece James has posted two emotional social media messages after suffering another injury. The 23-year-old went off after an hour in the 2-0 win against Bournemouth on Tuesday with what Graham Potter later described as a reccurence in the same area as before.

He has already had to miss a spell of this season out due to an injury sustained against AC Milan at San Siro in October and was making his first return to competitive action since. Gareth Southgate was forced to leave him out of the England World Cup squad too, making it a tough six weeks for James on a personal, physical and professional level. He addressed these challenges via messages on social media throughout the day.

Zakaria unhappy

Despite making his first league start for Chelsea Denis Zakaria was critical of his own performance during the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder didn't play a minute under Thomas Tuchel and was regularly left out of matchday squads. It it took him until November to play for Potter too. He featured before the World Cup break and has been rewarded for his patience with a spot in the team, but it wasn't all positive for the Swiss international.

Enzo Fernandez transfer

In a rapidly moving story, Enzo Fernandez has become a serious option for Chelsea in the market with reports suggesting that his massive £105million transfer fee could be met in January. The Argentine World Cup star has emerged over the past six weeks as a midfield choice for Todd Boehly to pursue in order to strengthen the squad and it is said that Chelsea made their intentions clear with the Lisbon club.

Fernandez was one of the standout players in Qatar and could be on the move less than eight months after joining Benfica as Chelsea look to get a jump on the competition for his signature.
