Jamie Carragher trolls Todd Boehly and highlights ‘massive problem’ at Chelsea after Borussia Dortmund defeat

Jamie Carragher trolled Todd Boehly and revealed Graham Potter ’s biggest problem at Chelsea after the club’s Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund. The Blues will need to mount a Champions League comeback to advance to the quarter-finals after losing the first leg in Germany 1-0.

Despite creating a number of chances and having 21 shots in the match, Chelsea failed to score against Dortmund, with Karim Adeyemi’s superb solo goal enough to separate the sides. Following the win, Borussia Dortmund’s squad gathered to celebrate in front of their ‘Yellow Wall’ and Carragher took the opportunity to troll big- spending Chelsea owner Boehly, who attended the match.

‘It’s just come through on social media, Todd Boehly’s put in a bid for the whole Borussia Dortmund squad!’ Carragher joked on CBS Sports ,

sparking laughter from former Manchester City defender Micah Richards and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Boehly has spent almost £600m on new signings over the past two transfer windows but the arrivals have not resulted in immediate success.

Chelsea have won just eight of their 22 Premier League games this season to slip to 10th in the Premier League, while they will need to come from behind to keep their Champions League hopes alive after losing in Dortmund.

Carragher says Potter has a ‘massive problem’ at Chelsea as he is still without a ‘recognised’ striker despite the huge spending at Stamford Bridge. The Liverpool legend added:

‘When you actually think of the money Chelsea have spent, not just in [January], in the August window as well, and to think you’re playing a full season without a recognised, top-quality centre forward, it’s just baffling.

‘You think, “It’s £600m being spent and you don’t have someone at the top end of the pitch who can score a goal”.

‘Chelsea’s massive problem this season has been scoring goals. I think they’ve scored just more than maybe one goal a game in the Premier League, and that’s nowhere near enough for a club the size of Chelsea and also the revenue that’s been spent on that team, that’s a massive problem.

‘Considering Chelsea have spent £600m and they don’t have a centre-forward is just crazy and that game summed it up. They need someone who can put the ball into the back of the net.’

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday with managerless Southampton visiting Stamford Bridge.
