Thiago Silva signs new contract
Centre-back Thiago Silva has signed a new Chelsea contract, extending his stay at Stamford Bridge for a further 12 months, the club have confirmed. The Brazilian's deal was due to expire in the summer after signing in 2020. The experience centre-back has committed his further to the Blues for a further 12 months, meaning he will be 39 when his deal expires in 2024.
"I am honestly so happy to continue my career with the Blues," the defender said. "When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year. Now it is already the fourth! I could not have imagined that, but really it is a very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea."
Boehly tipped for Neymar transfer
Todd Boehly has done plenty to get into the headlines since his takeover at Chelsea. Mostly it has been the transfers and the spending. Ingrained in the memory now is that over £550million has been paid out for 18 players.
The squad is still far from complete though and as such Chelsea are continually linked with more recruits. SkyBet have a list that may well appeal to the Stamford Bridge faithful too. Outside of the failed January move from Moises Caicedo, is tipped to be the most likely to join, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and James Maddison are all included. In the middle though is Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.
Sterling setback
Having come back from an injury lay-off following a knock early on against Manchester City in early January Raheem Sterling looks set for another period on the sidelines. The summer signing did come off the bench last weekend but suffered a kick in training, Potter revealed ahead of the match. The manager said:
"Wesley [Fofana] has been training with the team, Denis [Zakaria] has been training with the team. We've had a little setback with Raheem, he is doubtful. "He got a kick in training at the side of his knee. Mateo [Kovacic] is training with the team but it'll be too soon for him."
