Thomas Tuchel return ultimatum
Thomas Tuchel is one of a host of managers linked with taking over from Graham Potter should he be sacked at Chelsea in the coming weeks. The German was only dismissed himself in September. Having won the Champions League in 2021 he is truly a fan favourite but it wasn't a completely smooth 18 months in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel pushed for the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022 but is understood to have fallen out with him months later, resulting in his eventual loan to Inter Milan for this season. Lukaku is due to back at Chelsea next season unless a new deal can be negotiated and he could, in theory, be reunited with Tuchel. This is something that may well haunt all parties should either decision come about. Thierry Henry thinks differently though, explaining the striker's situation.
N'Golo Kante returns
Chelsea have been dealt a huge boost heading into a vital three weeks of their season with star midfielder N'Golo Kante returning to training with his teammates. Kante hasn't played since mid-August due to injury and had to undergo surgery before Christmas after a late setback. He is, on his day, one of the best and most unique players in the world. Potter hasn't had the chance to use Kante yet and will be granted major positive when the 31-year-old does eventually make his next appearance on the pitch.
Josko Gvardiol stance
Chelsea transfer target Josko Gvardiol scored against Manchester City on Wednesday night in the Champions League for RB Leipzig. City are, along with Real Madrid, interested in signing the Croatian defender. The Bundesliga side remain determined to keep their prize asset though with manager manager Marco Rose saying,
"Josko Gvardiol will be an RB Leipzig player next season as well. I am the coach and I am asking for that. He is happy here," after the 1-1 draw. "He said he wants to play in the Premier League, but he didn’t say when," Rose added.
